Yuksom (য়াকসাম) is one of the oldest establishment of Sikkim, distance from Gangtok is 122 kms and rom Siliguri (gateway of Eastern Himalaya) 145 K.M. via NH31A and 148 K.M via Hill Cart road. Yuksom situated on 1,780 meter above sea level and distance from Pelling (Most preferred tourist destination in West Sikkim) is only 36 K.M.
Yuksom Homestay
Yuksom is most attractive historical place along with best
trekking routes and natural beauty. The first Chogyal of Sikkim Phuntsong
Namgyal established capital in Yuksom in 1641 AD. The crowing place of King
Namgyal can be visited on foot after reaching in Yuksom, the entire area surrounded
by low railing. Archaeology department, Gov. of India is undertaking this
place.
The first and oldest monastery
of Sikkim, Dubdi monastery
or Yuksom monastery situated here, this is very religious and holy place for
locals. You need to trek 2 K.M. stoned way surrounded by deep jungle to Monastery
from main road of Yuksom, also Phamrong waterfalls can be visited on your foot
from Monastery. Most of the trekking routes like Dzongri, Goechala, Bakhim and Kanchenjunga
national park trek starts from Yuksom, and Yuksom attracts number of foreign tourist
each year. The unusual view of the road to Yuksom from Pelling, after crossing Kanchenjunga
waterfall is fantastic and scenic.

Our associate homestay
is cool and calm accommodation at Yuksom. All rooms are enough spacious with
all facilities like attached bath and hot water. Cleanness is our first
priority, currently the homestay providing for 6-8 guests in cozy and total hygienic
room. The served food is local cuisine and cultivated in local organic garden. We
also can arrange bon-fire on prior request, traditional dishes also served on
special occasions. Tariff starts from Rs.1000 for room only and Rs1400 per
person per day with all meals (Breakfast to Dinner).
The local ‘Kanchenjunga
Conservation Committee’ has started homestay to promote eco-village tourism
in 2002. Initially 7 houses were included and provided basic training on how to
serve the needs of the tourist, at present there are 10 homestays are running
to accommodate domestic & foreign tourists. You can experience the
traditional way of living and exchange of culture, also learn how to cook local
cuisine or take part gardening and cultivation. Tariff is reasonable with all

How to Reach
Yuksom
The nearest rail road of Yuksom is New Jalpaiguri of West Bengal and
nearest airport is Bagdogra, around 150 Km. from Yuksom.
There is no direct
shared transportation to Yuksom from Siliguri, Bagdogra or New Jalpaiguri, get
an exclusive car for Yuksom from Siliguri. Also you can visit Yuksom from
Pelling in day tour our sightseen and back. Comedowns to Jorethang from
Siliguri or NJP then take shared jeep to Yuksom.

Best time to visit Yuksom is mid-February to May, another pleasant weather
during September to November.
