Rinchenpong | Village
A cool
and calm village in the lap of the Himalaya and renowned travel destination
around Pelling is Rinchenpong (রিনচেনপং). The village is more popularly known as Silent
Valley, this is particularly attractive for those who like jungles, short hill
treks, orchids and variety of birds. Rinchenpong situated only 40 K.M from
Pelling and distance from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) around 125 K.M, located around
5,500 ft above sea level. Main attraction of Rinchenpong is magnificent view of
Mt. Kabru, Mt. Koktang, and mount Kumbhakarna along with fascinating Mt
Kanchenjunga.
Okay, now what to see except snowcapped peaks? Wait, the list is long, so many
things to do and so many things to see in Rinchenpong. There is Risham Monastery or Resum monastery, poison
lake or local people called as bikh-pokhri., The heritage
house, Rabindra Memorial Garden, the old Bungalow made by British.
Your full day must be allotted for above mentioned nice locations. The Risham
Monastery can be visited on your foot, it’s only 3 km from Rinchenpong bazaar,
this monastery situated on 6,300 ft above sea level, walk to monastery is very
enjoyable. If you have senior member/mate or children then book a car to
monastery. This monastery offers an excellent view of the snowcapped mountains,
especially the sunrise from behind the Kanchenjunga also memorable view of
snowcapped peaks of Himalayan ranges is visible from monastery.
Try chaang, a local homemade brew of Sikkim, its taste a bit like English beer, when you
are at Rinchenpong.

Few
numbers of budgeted and deluxe accommodations are available at Rinchengpong,
but homestay provides a close to nature feel, great views, worm hospitality and
delicious food. Our associate homestay provides deluxe, comfort accommodation
with all modern facilitates. All rooms
are spacious with attached western bath, most of the room/cottage provides great
view of surrounding and snow capped peaks.
The homestay built to promote
eco-tourism among tourist with the help of tourism department and local people.
Currently we have total six rooms/cottages and total occupancy capacity around
25 heads. Tariff starts from Rs.1,200
onwards (MAP - tariff includes breakfast, evening snacks, dinner and all taxes).

How to Reach
Rinchenpong
Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) airport,
which is in West Bengal, daily flights are avail to and from all major Indian
cities. Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri or NJP. Daily trains are
connecting NJP with Kolkata, Guwahati and other Indian ciites.
Exclusive
cars are available from airport and NJP to Rinchenpong. Direct shared
transportation not available from Siliguri, in that case you need to come down
to Jorethang by shared jeep, distance around 85 K.M and it may take 2 and ½ hrs.
After that shared jeeps are available from Jorethang to Rinchenpong, a nice
journey around one and half hrs and distance would be around 33 K.M.

Best Season to Visit
Rinchenpong
Rinchenpong can be visited
throughout the year, but best time to visit Rinchenpong is autumn (October to November)
and in winter (January to March) season.
