Pelling | 130 km from Gangtok
Pelling is second most popular tourist destination of
Sikkim after capital city Gangtok. People visits Pelling throughout the year
for its beauty and incredible panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. This small
city located at 6,500 ft. above sea level in West Sikkim district. Now days
Pelling become little bit dense due to number of hotels, restaurants and crowd,
but still tourist attraction not faded yet.
One of the
best tourist attraction of Pelling is Sange Choeling Monastery – established in
17th century, also one of the oldest monastery in Sikkim and located
on ridge top above Pelling (aprox 8,800 ft.). On next day you can visit Rabdentse
– was the second capital former kingdom of Sikkim, Pemayangtse Monastery, Khecheopalri
lake (a sacred site of pilgrimage by the Buddhists), Rimbi & Kanchenjunga
waterfalls in a full day sightseeing tour.
If you have
another day time then go to explore Yuksom (it was the first
capital of former Sikkim kingdom), Tashiding Monastery –
a holy place for Tibetan Buddhism and Phamrong waterfalls. Distance around 35
kms from Pelling city.

How to Reach
Pelling
Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and nearest railway
station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Distance from Siliguri around 140 kms, it may take
around 4-4.5 hrs to reach. Direct car
and taxis are available from Siliguri/NJP/Airport, car fare will be like
Rs.3500 (small car) and Rs.4,500 (Bolero/Sumo). Daily bus service available
from SNT bus stand, starts from 10.30 A.M and reaches Pelling around 5.30 P.M,
fare around Rs.250/person.
Siliguri to
Pelling sharing jeeps available from Siliguri Gurudwara stand and per head fare
around Rs.300.
