Lava (লাভা) is a small Himalayan village near Kalimpong and Algarah
located around 7,000 ft. above sea level. Lava is gateway to famous Neora Valley National Park and
other popular tourist destinations like Rishyop and Loleygaon. From Kalimpong its
about 2 hrs. journey through dense dhupi forest, entire route is so charming
for travelers. Lava monastery is main point of attraction for first time
visitors, keep almost couple of hours for this monastery. Adventure lovers can
go for a trek to Rachela Pass (12 km moderate trekking from lava). You also can
take a short trip to nearby Ghanti Dara and Tiffin Dara sunset points.

located just opposite of Lava monastery (which is main attraction or point of
interest of Lava). You can enjoy a great mountain view along with gorgeous
night view of monastery. We have number of double, triple bedded rooms and
family suite too for you and your loving one. All rooms are well decorated with
modern amnesties like TV, geyser, attached western style bath etc. All bedrooms
are en-suite. We have our own tube well water and filtration for drinking
water. We have a Dhobi (Laundry) service in the premises. For very little money
you can have your cloths washed, ironed and returned to you on the same day. A
full Indian breakfast is served from 7.30 AM till 10.00 every morning, afternoon
tea with biscuits /cake is served every afternoon from 4 - 6 PM. We have two
chefs and we now have an extensive and tasty menu which is also reasonably
priced.

How to Reach
Lava
Nearest railway
station is New Mal Jn. (NMZ) and second nearest rail head is New Jalpaiguri
(NJP). Direct car/taxis are available from Siliguri, daily and direct bus
services available from Malbazar. There are two main routes to reach, first one
via Sevoke Road and another one via Gajoldoba/Gazoldoba. Shared jeep available
via Gorubathan from Malbazar.
Best Season to Visit
Lava
Lava can be visited throughout the year except monsoon. Best
time to visit March – May and again October – December.
