Burmaik | A village with panoramic of Kanchenjunga pine forest and River Teesta

Burmaik is a small hill station in the foothills of the Himalayas, about 18 km from the city of Kalimpong. The village is located in the middle of the road from Kalimpong towards Rangpo (Sikkim) town. Burmaik is a serene village, located 127 km away from Siliguri and the village has the longest view of River Teesta and one of the majestic views of the entire Mt. Kanchenjunga range.

          Cinchona is cultivated on the slopes of hills all over this area. Most of the trees were planted during the English period. The malaria drug quinine is made from the bark of the cinchona tree.
