Rishop | Lava Lolegaon

Rishop (রিশপ) is a glamorous Lepcha village under Kalimpong sub-division of Darjeeling district, situated on around 7,710 ft. above sea level. ‘Ri’ means hill-top and ‘shyap’ means the ancient tree in Nepali language. Distance from Siliguri around 101 K.M via Kalimpong and distance from Kalimpong only 25 K.M. Rishop is only 5 K.M away from Lava by trekking route and 12 K.M. by car.

          Rishop is about ever sparkling Mt. Kanchenjunga on the sky and lots of small village houses throug the mountains, treasures of natural beauty just 25 K.M away from Kalimpong city. On the one hand of Rishop has number of famous snowcapped peaks including Mt. Kabru, Singalila Ranges, and on another side Neora Valley National Park and mountainside of Reche La pass. The sun and clouds are playing across the valley, partial view of Nathula range is visible from Rishop.

          Take an early morning rise and go to ‘Tiffindara’ viewpoint by 1.5 K.M uphill trekking to be witness of a great sunrise. Spend at least minimum two days here to feel the charm and lovely view of Rishop.

How to Reach Rishop

Nearest railway stations are New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and New Mal junction (NMZ), distance from NJP around 104 K.M and Rishyap only 60 away from Malbazar (New Mal). Regular train service is available from all around India to New Jalpaiguri. Kanchankanya Express connects Malbazar with Kolkata, this strain runs on daily basis between Kolkata to Alipurduar through New Mal.

          Nearest domestic airport is Bagdogra (IXB), well connected with all major cities of India. Exclusive cars are available from airport, Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri to Rishyap. Best Season to Visit Rishop

Rishyap can be visited throughout the year, but best time to visit Rishyap is autumn (October to November) and in summer (March to May). Winter is so chilly, sometimes temperature goes down under 0⁰ C carry adequate warm clothes.
