Icchey Gaon | Scenic Himalayan hamlet known as Wishing Village
Icchey Gaon (ইচ্ছেগাঁও) is most natural beautiful
village just 15 kms away from hassled Kalimpong town, sometimes also spelled as
Echey Gaon. The village is an offbeat destination near Kalimpong and Sillery Gaon,
located about 5800 ft. above of sea level. The Ichey Gaon village is a paradise
or a small piece of dream land surrounded by the illusion of paradise and
nature. Meaning of Iccheygaon or Echey Gaon is highest village in local Lepcha
Language. When the sun light is dimmed, you can stand on a small hillock, from
there you can observe the beautiful view of the sunset. The entire village
covered with stepping down organic cultivation. There is no use of chemical
fertilizers, nor the use of pesticides for cultivation. Homestays only serves
organic food to guests.
Walking on foot is wonderful experience in this small village, each of the
buildings/homestays are decorated with colourful flowers. You can get a wide
range view of mount Kanchenjunga just from adjacent balcony of homestay. On
other side get a view of pine forest just like a heaven. If you are adventure
lover, then you can try a short trek to Sillery Gaon
Homestay on your own. Also you can visit Ramdhura –
another beautiful village in Kalimpong district, just 3.5 kms from Iccheygaon.

Icchey Gaon can be visited throughout the year for its cool and moderate
climate, but March to mid of June and again October to January best season to
visit. In monsoon entire are gets huge rain and in the month of December and January
is most chilling month.
