Dhotrey | Trekkers paradise sleepy hamlet at Singalila National Park
Dhotrey or Dhotre (ধোত্রে) is a small Himalayan village located within
the buffer zone of Singalila National Park in Darjeeling district of West
Bengal. It is belonging to Eastern Himalaya and situated at 8500 ft. above sea
level, distance from Darjeeling only 11 kms. At present trekkers and nature
lovers can stay at Dhotrey, in the village homestays or in the trekker's huts.
Jeep, car and bus services are available regularly from Darjeeling,
Sukhiapokhri (see Jorpokhri)
and NJP via Manebhanjang.

exquisite forest trail thus letting you avoid conventional trek from

Dhotrey is paradise for trekkers, nature lovers and bird watchers,
commercialized accommodations not being developed to retain the natural charm. Homestay
accommodations are only option to stay at Dhotrey, local villagers and tourism
development communities has set homestays for comfortable stay with all basic facilities
like cozy bed, hygienic and spacious rooms with attached bath. Tariff stars
from Rs.900 to Rs.1250 per head per day full board (breakfast
to dinner). Travel tips and trekking guidelines also provided with porters.
How to Reach
Dhotrey
Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and airport
is Bagdogra (IXB) direct car/taxi available from NJP, Siliguri and airport. Distance
from NJP railway station around 100 kms and 95 kms from Siliguri through
Rohini, Kurseong, Ghoom, Sukhia Pokhri and Mane Bhanjang.
You can take shared jeep from Siliguri
up to Ghoom then wait for another shared jeep to Sukhia Pokhri, from here take
shared jeep or car to Dhotrey.
Best Season to Visit
Dhotrey
Dhotrey can be visited throughout the year, but best time to visit
Dhotrey is mid of September and December to enjoy memorizing views of Mighty Kanchenjunga.
Another best time to visit Dhotrey is between March and early April when the region
is filled with the fragrance and blossoms of magnolias, spruce and
rhododendrons.
