Takdah or Tukdah (তাকদা) is a small and beautiful mountain village in Darjeeling district, West Bengal. The hamlet located around 28 km from Darjeeling town and around 40 km from Kalimpong, situated at around 4124 ft. above the sea level and this is a perfect holiday destination to relax and enjoy the pristine beauty of the place, scenic views, the tea gardens, and blooming orchids. This little unknown hamlet has a very pleasant weather throughout the year.

          Although the altitude of Takdah is much lower than Darjeeling town, the place is cooler compared to nearby areas. It is a treasure secret, because it's yet to develop as a full-fledged tourism place. Takdah is mostly known for its verdant spread of Tea Gardens and British Heritage Tea Bungalow (105 years) that has preserved the glory of the region over many years.

          You can go for a sightseeing tour to nearby destination like Pubong Hanging Bridge - A 100 yrs old hanging bridge name Barbatey Bridge, Takdah Forest Bungalow - built 1911 also known as Takdah Club and Tinchuley.

How to Reach Takdah

Nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB) and railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) well connected with Kolkata and rest of the India. Direct car/taxi is available from Siliguri, NJP and airport. Distance from Siliguri roughly around 80 kms and it may take approx. 3-4 hrs. to reach though Kurseong, Sonada, Rongbul Market and JoreBangla.
