Bariakhop | Homestay located near Varsey

Bariakhop or Buriakhop is a small scenic village in West District of Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at 5530 ft. above sea level and about 64 KM towards south from district head quarters Geyzing. Visit this place to relive the days when playing meant skipping ropes and cricket bats instead of video games and mobile phone. Stay here for at least couple of days to take in the local flavor, shop at the local market that is set up every Wednesday, take long walks and leave your watch and phones at home. There are no hotels but some people have given their houses on rent as homestay.

          Bariakhop is not a destination for people looking to sightsee or stay in a good resort and lounge. Lose yourself in the magic of the place and you will soon discover a new you that had been hidden under the cobwebs of city life.

          On first day take a aimless village work and roam as much you can, next day you may go to Gyathan waterfalls, Ring road, Sai Mandir (Temple), Anden monastery etc. on 3^rd day go for mountains and rhododendron flowers view from Varsey Rhododendron Sanctuary area.

How to Reach Bariakhop

Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and airport is Bagdogra (IXB). Direct taxi is available to Bariakhop from NJP, airport and Siliguri. Reaching Buriakhop is almost half day’s travel from Siliguri and it will take around 4 to 4.30 hrs through Melli-Nayabazar road (130 kms). You also can take Hill Cart Road from Siliguri thorough Matigara, Pulbazar, Jorethang and it will take around 5 hrs (134 kms).

Best Season to Visit Bariakhop

Bariakhop can be visited throughout the year but best time to visit Buriakhop in March, April & May for blossoming rhododendrons.
