Reshikhola | or rishikhola bengal
Rishi or Rishi Khola (রেশীখোলা/ঋষিখোলা) - Most beautiful, picturize last
border village lies between Indian state of Sikkim and West Bengal. West Bengal
situated on a side of the Rishi River and Sikkim is on another side of the
river. Rishi can be reached from Kalimpong, there is a small village ‘Algarah’,
on the way to Lava (Labha) from Kalimpong. The straight road goes to Lava and
another way goes to Rishi through Pedong, also Rishi can be reached from
Kalimpong via Rhenak. The distance would be around 37 K.M. and it’s a nice
journey of more than one and half (1.1/2) hrs. Rishi
village situated on 101 K.M. away from Siliguri town and it’s a more than 3.1/2
hrs. of journey through Sevoke, Kalijhora, Rambi, Kalimpong, Lava and Pedong . Distance
from Gangtok town is only 90 K.M from Rishi.
Go
to Aritar Lake or Lampokhri Lake for
same day sightseeing after taking a bath & lunch and small rest at Rishi. Aritar
(local name Ghati-Tso) is scenic lake around 1150 ft. long and 250 ft. wide and
surrounded by lush green forest. Get ready next day’s sightseeing, leave early
as soon as possible and go for a remarkable journey including Jelep
la pass, Kupup lake, Baba Mandir & Changu
Lake. Take a small halt at Thambi view point to be witness of bends of
95 turning into the road (Zuluk loops). Snowfall starts from mid of October or
pre November, so carry enough warm clothes for your tour, avoid this season if
you have seniors or children. Once snowfall started, the entire area covered
with snow within very short. Take a tour to Rameti view point, Pedong Monastery
and Rikisum near Kalimpong.

Nearest airport is Bagdogra, in West Bengal near
Siliguri. Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri or NJP, daily trains from
NJP to all major city of India is available.
Book a
car from NJP or from Siliguri to Rishi via Rhenak of Sikkim, Also you can reach
from Kalimpong via Pedong. Shared jeeps are also available from Kalimpong to
Rhenak. Keep 2 copies of your photo, your address proof and identity card
(Passport, voter’s id etc.) for Baba Mandir and Changu lake visit over the road
of Silk

Summer is good time to visit Rishi and sightseeing
around Rishikhola, Rhododendrons are starts blossoming everywhere, the
mountains are become colorful in the month of April, May to mid of June. Avoid
rainy season for this area. Winter is chill and snowfall is common here.
