Mirik (মিরিক) is a picturesque travel destination, located in
Darjeeling district of West Bengal at Indo-Nepal border. Mirik means ‘a place
burnt by fire’ in Lepcha language. Today I will discuss about few attractive
homestay located in and around Mirik.
Mirik is famous
for its Mirik Lake, tea gardens, orange orchards and surrounded green mountain
slopes. You can enjoy boating in Mirik Lake. The road goes to Mirik from
Darjeeling through tea gardens. Go to uphill to the lake to enjoy memorizing sun
rise and sun set. Generally people go to Mirik for sight seen or package tour
from Darjeeling, but I will suggest staying at Mirik at least 2 nights to feel
the charm of Mirik.

we are associated with two traditional, decent and well organized homestay in
Mirik, just few minutes journey from Lake.
The
first homestay located at Mirik busty, School Dara away from the hustle and
bustle Mirik town. Rooms are huge and well decorated with all modern facilities
and home cooked delicious food. The host Mr.
Gurung is jolly and excellent and good cooks so nice.

Another
homestay located at Lower Mirik Busty, School Dara, surrounded by lush green
gardens. River facing rooms are equipped with attached bathroom and provide hot
water.
The homestay itself is an excellent
place to view sunrise in the morning. The food you served is home cooked, and
the local drinks (TONGBAS) are offered. Organic farming is been practiced and
if interested you can grab a basket and go to farm to pluck your own favorite
fresh vegetable for the dinner. Pony rides, Bag-packed picnics, walks into the
wilderness, trek and stay in a traditional thatched huts around River
Rangbhang, culture exchange.
This is relaxing Homestay in Mirik, West
Bengal by Mr. Mr. Gurung and his parents. This is one of the best
places in the region, the cottage is excellent, rooms and bathrooms are very
clean, and peoples are very helping. The lawn is very good for children’s and
family, homemade food with very beautiful surrounding view. There are many
things to see nearby like Mirik Lake, Pashupati Mandir, Murma Tea Garden, and Orange Garden
etc.

How to Reach
Mirik
Mirik can be reached from Darjeeling, it will take around two and half
hours, the scenic view of road through tea gardens is very breathtaking. Shared
transportation is available from Darjeeling to Mirik.
