Lamahatta (লামাহাটা) is a scenic village in North Bengal surrounded
by clouds, fog, pine tree, dense dhupi trees and an offbeat destination from
Kolkata. Lamahatta is located at 6500 ft above sea level and distance from Darjeeling
is only 24 kms. This is one of the best
eco-tourism destinations in Darjeeling and around. Meaning of this place is ‘Monk’s huts’, Lama – Buddhists Monk and Hatta-
huts.
Take a
tour to road side garden or eco-park, you need to buy tickets for entering the
garden for Rs.10. The garden spread-across the other side of main road through
mountain slopes. You can also take a nature trail trek to hill top small lake, a
sacred lake for local villagers. Go to Peshoke
view point to be witness confluence of rivers Rangeet and Teesta, locally known
as ‘Triveni’, located just 8 kms away
from Lamahatta. Take a short trip to nearby tea gardens.

Lamahatta is a spot which is designed and develop by
local villagers with the help of State Government for promoting eco-tourism and

Mountain View Homestay has one double bedded room, three
triple bedded room and two four bedded rooms. All rooms has attached western bath
with in-built geyser for hot water. Tariff starts from Rs.800 per night for
double bedded rooms, Rs.1500 for triple bedded rooms and Rs.2000 for four bedded
luxury rooms. Room heater also can be arranged for Rs.200 per night. Fooding package
is Rs.500 per head per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner with healthy home
cooked foods.

Lamahatta
Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and nearest airport is
Bagdogra (IXB), well connect with Lamahatta through well motorable road. Lamahatta
is located around 72 kms from Siliguri town, and 75 kms from NJP railway
station through Kurseong,
Jorebungalow (very near of Ghum). Direct car or taxis are available from NJP
and airport, shared transport also can be avail up to Jorebungalow, from here
book another car directly to Lamahatta. Also
you can reach Lamahatta from Darjeeling and Kalimpong, distance respectively 25
kms and 42 kms.

Lamahatta
Lamahatta is a destination which can be visited throughout the year, but
best time to visit Lamahatta would be October to March. If you are visiting
Lamahatta in winter then carry enough woolen clothes.
