Ranikhet | kumaon

Ranikhet is a cantonment hill town in Almora district in the state of Uttarakhand. The distance from Nainital is only 60 kilometers. The name Ranikhet based on Queen’s favorite field is Ranikhet. Ranikhet, located at an altitude of 6132 feet, is now the headquarters of the Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army. The view of the various peaks of the Himalayas from Ranikhet is amazing. Nanda Devi, Nilkantha, Trishul, Gauri Parbat, Comet and Hati Pahar are some of the major peaks. Ranikhet was once proposed to be the summer capital of India instead of Shimla during the British rule. If you have time, you can visit the Kumaon Regiment Museum. Weapons of war, especially the weapons used in the Indo-China war are arranged here. The museum is open every day except Wednesday from 9 am to 12 noon and every day except Wednesday and Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm. Take a look at the Chaubatia Apple Garden and Research Center, just 10 kilometers from Ranikhet town. Be sure to check out this garden if you are visiting in the month of September.

Take a look at the nine-hole golf course from Ranikhet, five kilometers from the city. Ranikhet Golf Course is one of the tallest golf courses in Asia. The Katarmal Sun Temple is the second most famous Sun Temple in India, 25 km from Ranikhet. The first is the Sun Temple in Konark, Odisha. The Katarmal Sun Temple is about 800 years old and the artwork of the temple is worth seeing.
