Phuntsholing is
the gateway to Kingdom Bhutan, a small border town located at India-Bhutan
border around 1,290 ft. above sea level. There is no need for VISA – Passport,
but you need to get a permit to visit Bhutan. The permit can be arranged from
Kolkata, Thimpu and Phuntsholing, by submitting you national identity proof and
photograph. Most of the tourists spend at least half/full day for obtaining
permit here.
The first
impression about the town which will attract you, that will be the traditional
Architectural houses on both side of street. Number of point of interests and
sightseeing point are there, first you will visit ‘Bhutan Gate’ – an well
decorated entrance gate to Bhutan. Then visit Karbandi Monastery or Phuntsholing
monastery, located from 5 km away from town, from here get a spectacular birds
eye view of Jaigaon and Phuntsholing. At last visit Crocodile zoo, a breeding
and conservation center, your elder members will love the place.

Phuntsholing
Nearest railway station is Hasimara (HSA) which is located around 20 km
from Phuntsholing, direct car, auto-rickshaw is available, it may take around 40
to 45 minutes. NJP located around 145 kms.
Best Season to Visit
Phuntsholing
Entire Bhutan can be visited throughout the year except monsoon, but
best season for Bhutan tour is March to May and another best season is
September to November. In winter Bhutan experience enough chill weather.
