Nathang Valley (locally known as Gnathang
Valley or Gnathan Valley) is popularly called the Ladakh of the East India.
The valley situated at a height of 13,500 ft. (4,115 meters) above the sea
level, in East Sikkim district. Nathang Valley is one of the most beautiful
places in the Old-Silk-Route region, surrounded by snow capped hills and mountains.
Chinese Watch Towers on Jelep-La are clearly visible from
Nathang valley with the naked eyes. This place is basically an army cantonment.
Nathang valley basically is a high-altitude plateau in eastern Himalaya
and the highest place to stay in the Indian part of the Old Silk Route in
Sikkim. At least one night stay is compulsory here, you can visit famous Eagle’s
Nest Bunker which is abandoned bunker of Indian army. From this
bunker you will get a 360 degree view of nearby including China-Tibet, Plains
of Bengal, whole range of Mt. Kanchenjunga, west Bhutan and beautiful river Bramhaputra.
The bunker is also famous for memorizing sunrise over Mt. Kanchenjunga.

How to Reach
Nathang
Nathang can be reached from Gangtok, it’s located around 70 kms away. Entire
route so exiting and scenic and it will take around 2 -3 hrs to reach.
Best Season to Visit
Nathang
You need to be very careful when you are planning to visit Old Silk
route or Nathang valley. Entire are covered with thick sheet of ice in winter
and winter exists till month of April from late December-January. Best time to
visit Nathang is late April to September, in this season you can see blossoming
wild flowers. September to December is also a good season to visit Nathang.
